Great job to everyone who swam at JO's this weekend. There were many new best times and swimmers gained valuable finals experience. New records are posted at the pool!
There will be Saturday practice at normal time this weekend
High School swimmers: Please remember to register yourself as “unattached,” if you are entering any swim meets through the end of the high school season.
Senior Group swimmers: Please enter 2-3 events a day at the upcoming Santa Clara Senior 2 Meet on April 18-19.
We have been invited to the WEST Long Course Invitational on April 18-19. It would be nice to have a big turnout at this meet. PLEASE NOTE: This is a “team entry” meet, so coaches will be entering everyone and the team will bill the families. It is your job to notify the coaches, if your swimmer will NOT be attending this meet.
10 & Under parents: If your swimmer is 9-10 and has a BB time OR is 7-8 with an A time OR is 6 & Under with a B time, please enter them in the 10 & Under Championship meet on April 25th. We will most likely enter relays, if we have multiple swimmers in each age group.
Swim Meet/Team Calendar:
March 31 Afternoon Team Social (No practice this day, except for Senior Group)
April 9-12 Spring Far Westerns (Qualifiers)
April 18-19 WEST LC Invitational
April 18-19 Santa Clara LC Senior 2
April 25 10 & Under Championships

Summer Swim Program: The Almaden Riptides is a year-round swim team. Although the summer is coming up and many are participating on cabana swim teams, there are still many reasons why your swimmer should continue with the Almaden Riptides through July.
Top 5 Reasons to Continue Swimming through July:
#1. Your swimmer gets to participate in Long Course Swim Meets (LCM – Long Course Meters). This is the length of the pool that Olympic Swimmers compete in. It is a wonderful development opportunity for your swimmer to compete in this longer format. Some swimmers find that they prefer it!
#2. Your swimmer will get a better work out. Although Cabana Swim Programs are lots of fun, they do not provide as good of a training workout as our year-round team does. And our practices won’t be early in the morning.
#3. There is a smaller swimmer to coach ratio, which allows for more personalized coaching. It is fun & rewardingto participate year-round, and your swimmer will see the results of their efforts.
#4. The fees are reduced during the months of May, June, and July. The monthly fee for one swimmer is $75. For two swimmers, it is $125/month. For each additional swimmer per family, you simply add $25/month.
#5. It is an opportunity to practice at another pool (ie: We are looking at having practices at Gunderson, Bret Harte, or possibly both during the months of June and July). Our practices will continue to be at Shadowbrook through May.
Required 30 Day Notice to Withdraw: If you find yourself needing to withdraw your swimmer(s) from the Almaden Riptides, there are specific procedures to do so (which are outlined in our team’s registration packet). There is a 30 day notice required in order to give the team time to revise the coaching staff and to make other necessary plans. If the 30 day notice dips into another month, the next month’s dues will be due. Our team does not prorate months. Your withdrawal notification must be given through the following link: http://goo.gl/hmkZqd
This form will document your notification date and is the ONLY way to submit your 30 day notice. We highly encourage your swimmer(s) to continue; however, we want it to be clear as to the procedures in the event you choose to withdraw some time during the season.
