Are you ready for #LOL2015? This is the Almaden Riptides second annual “LOTS OF LAPS,” fundraiser and it will be held onWednesday, February 25. It is our only major fundraiser of the year.
How it works: Swimmers will be collecting pledges or donations from family and friends during the next couple of weeks. We are asking each swimmer to raise a minimum of $60 or $100 for families with more than one swimmer on the team. Our team has a 100% participation goal for this event. If your swimmer(s) is unable to swim on Feb 25, please consider donating the minimum $60 to help us reach our 100% participation goal. Pledge Sheets will be placed in the family files by Friday. The coaches have set goals for each swimmer. Please have your swimmer talk to their coach about their goal. There will also be a list of the coaches suggested goals in the “Keith” family file by the end of the week.
After #LOL2015, swimmers must turn in their money by March 5, 2015 to be eligible for the “Most Money Raised” prize in each age group. There will also be prizes awarded to the most laps swam by a girl and a boy in each age group.
Why are we having this fundraiser?
Almaden Riptides have several ongoing expenses that need to be covered on a monthly basis that are not covered by monthly dues. In addition, one major upcoming expense is to rent out another pool during the summer months when Shadow Brook is not available to us. We are very proud to have such a strong swim team and are committed to excellence and dedicated to developing athletes to their full potential, ALL YEAR ROUND!
Day of #LOL2015:
During practice on Wednesday, February 25, the coaches will challenge the swimmers to swim LOTS OF LAPS. We will have prizes for most money raised and most laps swam in each age group as well as a special gift for everyone who participates. Some swimmers may not be swimming at their usual practice time that day. We will send out an email with the schedule for each age group for February 25.
We will need parent volunteers for #LOL2015 to count laps, make snacks and help out with other jobs the day of the event. If your family is in need of fulfilling service hours for the season, there will be lots of opportunities to help this event be successful. Volunteer sign-ups for #LOL2015 will be sent out iVolunteer soon.
We are still working out the details but feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
