Weekly Update 3

September 16, 2014

Thank you to all of the families that joined us last Friday for this year's first team social and recognition event.  We would also like to thank all of the parents that volunteered and to give a special thanks to Beth Orth, our Social Coordinator.  It was a lot of fun and we had a great turnout.  Be on the look out this Friday for an article about our team in the Almaden Times.  You may just recognize a few faces and learn a thing or two about Coach Kyle.

NOR CAL SWIM SHOP (Napa) will be at our pool tomorrow, Wednesday, September 17, during our practice times.  Please bring your checkbook and be ready to purchase your Adidas Team Swim Suit and any other items that you may need.

Please refer to our website at www.almadenriptides.com for our SWIM MEET SCHEDULE for the year.  It's time to sign up for the October and November Meets.  Be sure to sign up your swimmer before the meets close their registration.

Remember ... If your swimmer has transferred to our team from another team, please be sure to complete and mail in a TRANSFER FORM.  Our team code is TIDE.  You can find the form at the following link:  www.pacswim.org/userfiles/cms/documents/437/transfer.pdf.

The Pacific Swimming Officials Clinic is on Saturday, October 11th.  This is important because we need to get at least two more parents certified as officials or else we could potentially be fined at meets for not having enough officials. If you are interested, please sign up for the clinic at pacswim.org

Team Apparel Update: This year, swimmers and parents have an opportunity to order a variety of different apparel items (other than team swim suits). Amber Macias and Patty Dworkin are coordinating our apparel this year and will  let us know when we can place our orders ... hopefully later this month. These items are different than what Nor Cal will offer on 9/17.  We are offering items similar to last year. Screened on logo items include: hoodies, sweatpants, a lady's tank, a lady's v and scoop t-shirt, men's t-shirts and a zip up sweat shirt with screened logo on the back and embroidered logo on the front.  We also have the logo embroidered on baseball caps, visors, and scull caps. All apparel a shade of navy blue, similar to the team shirts our swimmers received on 9/12.  Keep an eye out for the order forms. We are also hoping to have sample sizes on hand so you can order the correct size.  If your swimmer has not received their team t-shirt, please contact Patty Dworkin at dworkin.patty@gmail.com or Amber Macias at dr.ambermacias@gmail.com.

Meet info:

The meet sheet for the Cranberry Classic has not been posted for this meet.  However, this is the link for last year's events.  Kyle believes that it will be the same format with 12 and under swimming in the mornings and 13 and over in the afternoons. There are events starting Friday afternoon.    http://www.sbswim.org/scssb/__eventform__/371060_2013%20Canyons%20Cranberry%20Classic%20Meet%20Sheet.pdf

Fun at Magic Mountain:

Since this meet is held near Magic Mountain, many of the swimmers are planning on going to Magic Mountain on Sunday, Nov 23.  MagicMountain in open from 10:30 am to 6 pm that day.  Younger swimmers can still swim in the morning, but the older swimmers need to decide what they want to do.  Marie can get a group rate for the team at $35.99 per person if we have 15 or more people  (pay at the gate) or $31.99 (pay two weeks in advance).  We'll figure this out after Nov 1.  Parking is $20.
